The Altitude Summary

When this guitar showed up at the shop we wondered if it had ever been played!  This epically clean, all-original JEM FP still has some of its original plastic coverings on it!  The truss rod cover and rear cavity covers are still sporting their original wrappers. The guitar does have the notorious neck pocket finish cracks (pictured), but these are only in the finish and not through the wood.  In terms of dings/wear, fret wear is minimal and there are three dings (pictured) on the bottom side edge of the guitar.  This JEM is 100% original, with the pickup covers still maintaining their neon pink appearance.  Despite this being a '97, this FP has gen 1 painted knobs, which for any JEM collector is quite the find.  This JEM also includes its original hardshell case with burgundy interior lining, as well as the original JEM toolkit.

From Other JEM Resources

The JEM77 FP, or Floral Pattern, is an electric guitar model from Ibanez's JEM series. Introduced in 1988, it is a signature model developed for American musician Steve Vai.

The JEM77 guitar boasts a unique floral print finish, created by printing a pattern onto cloth and adhering it to the body. To maintain a sleek look, the edges are carefully coated in black paint and the guitar is then finished with a thick clear coat. The inspiration for this design came from Vai himself, who was inspired by the curtains in his home.

The Ibanez JEM 77FP boasts a basswood body, a maple neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with vibrant green vine inlays. It also features a clear pickguard with light pink DiMarzio pickups, a double locking tremolo bridge, and Gotoh tuning machines. The built-in PAF Pro humbuckers and custom JEM single-coil add to its unique sound.  Originally equipped with the Edge tremolo, the 1991 Ibanez JEM 77FP was later updated with the Lo-Pro Edge and eventually succeeded by the Edge Pro in 2003.

Similar to other JEM guitars, this model features a signature monkey grip handle near the upper horn and a lion's claw cutaway behind the tremolo rout. The cutaway heel neck joint is also present to enhance accessibility to the upper frets. Additionally, the fingerboard includes deeply scalloped four upper frets.

Originally released in the US in 1988, the 1991 Ibanez JEM 77FP - Floral Print was later discontinued in 1999. However, in 2003, it made a comeback as the 15th Anniversary JEM77FP and continued to be produced internationally until 2004. This model held the record for the longest production run in the JEM line, only to be surpassed by the JEM7V in 2009, with a 17-year lifespan.

Additional floral patterns have been released in the JEM series, such as the JEM77 (Blue Floral Pattern) in 1990 and the JEM77FP2 (Floral Pattern 2) in 2000.
