The Ibanez JEM777-SK launched in 1987 as the debut Steve Vai signature model—and it did so with a neon bang. This early Fujigen-built example is part of that first generation and delivers all the features that made the JEM iconic: the unmistakable “monkey grip,” a Floyd Rose–licensed Edge tremolo (complete with rare original bridge guard), scalloped upper frets, and fluorescent aesthetic that changed shred guitars forever.
This one is all original, first year of production, including DiMarzio pickups, neon hardware, and the original pink-lined case and tremolo arm. It’s in excellent shape with only minor signs of age: a standard finish crack at the neck pocket, minimal fretwear (some small divots in the first few frets), and light tarnish on the neck plate. Some minimal surface scratches, and small finish cracks as pictured are the full extent of blemishes. The body still retains more of its vibrant “Shocking Pink” than many examples from this era, with some areas of fading as pictured. Includes the Original Pink Case, original hand rest (super rare!), and original whammy bar.
The factory-installed HSH configuration includes a pair of DiMarzio PAF Pro humbuckers and a single JEM middle pickup, delivering tight low-end, singing mids, and crystalline highs. The five-way switch lets you navigate everything from glassy cleans to full-on lead saturation, and the PAF Pros’ clarity under gain remains a benchmark of the model’s sound.
