The Altitude Summary

Iconic Craftsmanship and Aesthetic: This SG model guitar epitomizes lightweight, resonant excellence with a design that stands out in the realm of classic instruments. It features a hide-glue neck joint, a detail typically seen only in custom shop models, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and acoustic performance. The neck binding further elevates its exquisite appearance. Adorned with a rare see-through TV Yellow finish, this guitar tastefully displays the underlying wood grain, capturing the essence of its vintage heritage. The instrument is in outstanding condition, showing little to no fret wear and devoid of any significant dings or scratches. Some very light aging patina to the metals, giving it an almost VOS look with a fresh finish.  It comes fully equipped with all original "case candy," including paperwork, a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), and a hardshell historic case.

Gibson Custom, Art, and Historic

Legacy of Precision and Exclusivity: The Gibson Custom, Art & Historic Division was officially formed as an independent operation in October 1993, initiated by the introduction of the first Historic Les Paul Reissue earlier that same year. Although custom one-offs had been part of Gibson’s offering since its inception, this division marked a new era where Gibson's most skilled craftsmen would construct unique models in limited quantities, distinct from the regular USA Production Line. In addition to the Historic Collection—which aims for a higher standard of historical accuracy—the Custom Shop also crafts versions of USA line guitars featuring unique attributes not found in standard production. Historically, Historic models are identified by impressed serial numbers with six digits, contrasting with other Custom Shop builds, which typically feature an ink-stamped serial number with a "CS" prefix and a Custom Shop decal (absent on Historic models). An exception to this rule includes SG Customs built from 1993-1994, which still utilized the USA serial number format.

From Gibson Custom

Continuing a Rock Legacy: The 1960s SG model remains a favorite among legendary guitarists such as Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Robby Krieger, George Harrison, Dickey Betts, Gary Rossington, and Eric Clapton. Known for its devilish points and curves, blistering humbucker tone, and fast-playing neck, the SG holds a revered place in the pantheon of Gibson guitars. This Custom Shop Historic Reissue SG revives the magic of the originals using all-solid woods, historic hide-glue construction methods, and the finest vintage replica parts available, delivering the unmistakable powerful tone of pure rock 'n' roll.
